Born for the entertainment business
Born in 1957 to hard working blue collar parents in the steel town of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Bill Walker has always seen the bright lights of entertainment as his guide. Growing up in a family with the aura of a jazz legend, drummer Art Blakey, and early R&B group, The Burke family aka "The Five Stair Steps" ("Ooh Child"), Bill had a close musical influence. At five years old, Bill would entertain family gathers during holidays with his renditions of Gene Chandler’s "Duke of Earl". From the top of the stairs to the bottom, draped in a towel as his royal robe, his family knew he had a place in the entertainment business from that point on. Initially performing in the living room for family members to performing for thousands with some of the greatest stars in the music industry, music was in his blood and his life’s quest.
Making it work
After years of performing, Bill had always been intrigued by how the entertainment business worked. He wanted to learn the entertainment business from all aspects of its foundation to its completion. He worked with famed writers and producers at well-known record companies from Philadelphia International Records (O’Jays, Patti Labelle, Phyllis Hyman) to Foster & McElroy (En Vogue). He has taken artists from small stages to touring big arenas and on to TV’s "Soul Train!". Bill has helped transform seemingly insignificant productions into major entertainment events, bringing crowds of great multitude’s. Still intrigued, he wanted to know and do more. In 1998, he started BWPresents Inc. From that point to now he is known as the "go to guy-the man!". Bill became a key reason for the success of some of the premiere concert and festival events in the Caribbean as their entertainment consultant, marketer and talent buyer. He is determined to keep at the forefront, supplying people who demand great entertainment their desire. His expertise stemming from his lifelong passion in and around the music industry makes him a leader in this field!
